Marching Band

The East Coweta Marching Indians (ECMI) include the color guard, drumline, front ensemble (pit), and wind players. They rehearse in the summer and perform during football season at games, festivals, competitions, and parades. The marching band is a key part of the East Coweta High School band program.

Marching Band is open to all band students in grades nine through twelve, participation requires enrollment in a band class each fall and spring semester.

Symphonic Band and Concert Band

The concert and Symphonic Bands are the foundation of the band program at East Coweta High School. These ensembles engage in daily rehearsals throughout the academic year. Students learn, practice, and enhance their musical skills and playing techniques in this environment.

Students at East Coweta High School who are part of the band program are encouraged to register for one of the classes available.  Each class meets the specific needs of students. Prospective Wind Ensemble members may consider private lessons.

Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble is formed from sophomores, juniors, and seniors, chosen by the directors through a competitive audition process. While it encompasses the same foundational elements as the Concert Band and Symphonic Band, it is designed for more advanced musicianship.

Indoor Percussion

The East Coweta Indoor Percussion ensemble is dedicated to marching and music performances, predominantly throughout the winter months. This Indoor Program will feature a show lasting between 6 and 8 minutes, inspired by a particular theme or concept. It is open to any student in the East Coweta Band Program who meets the established music reading and performance standards. The program will be under the direction of Reid Griffin, with support from the East Coweta Band Directors and the East Coweta Band Boosters Association.

Indoor percussion engages in competitive or performance activities within indoor venues such as stadiums or gymnasiums.  This marching ensemble features both battery and front ensemble instruments. The indoor percussion ensemble comprises marching percussion instruments as well as Frontline (pit) percussion instruments, blending aspects of musical performance, marching, and theater, creating a unique artistic experience.

Color Guard

The color guard consists of students who have a passion for pageantry and seek to audition for this part of the marching band. Serving as a visual component of the band, the guard showcases flag and dance performances synchronized to the music played on the field. Students participating in the guard program will receive specialized training in dance, flag, and performance weapons such as rifle and saber.

The Fall Guard is the marching guard for the East Coweta Marching Indians (ECMI).  Any student in good standing at East Coweta High School is welcome to audition for the color guard. Auditions take place in late spring each year for the following fall season. The color guard accompanies the Marching Band to all football games, festivals, and competitions.

Winter Guard

Winter guard incorporates choreographed dance, acting, flags, and non-functioning rifles and sabers, along with other props. Unlike traditional fall color guard, winter guard is performed indoors, usually in a gymnasium or an indoor arena. Performances make use of recorded music rather than a live band. Winter guards are separate performance ensembles that compete in the Southern Association for Performance Arts (SAPA) and the Winter Guard International national (WGI) Winter circuits and other local, state, and national circuits.
